Mission:

The team will seek legislative and tri-county solutions to promote regional initiatives that encourage a unified and prosperous South Florida. We are encouraged by the recent spirit of cooperation fostered by the Tri-County Commission, which is composed of the boards of county commissioners of Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. By presenting a united front on issues of great importance to all South Floridians, the Tri-County Commission can help our region make greater legislative gains that we could ever make by acting alone.

We will champion incentives for economic development, affordable housing, effective transportation systems, positive redevelopment, growth management, education, environmental sustainability, emergency preparedness and other quality-of-life issues for our citizens. To effectively advocate for the region, we will seek input from regional organizations, focus groups and town hall meetings throughout the tri-county area.

Issues:

Our primary focus will be Attainable/Affordable Housing and our team will work to impact legislation which will include the following:

  • Repeal of the Sadowski Affordable Housing Trust Fund cap of $243 million, allowing full utilization of the $939.5 million of dedicated revenues in the fund for state and local housing needs.
  • Provide local government with incentives to encourage developers in their communities to include a component which   supports affordable housing.
  • Support legislation which promotes development of innovative affordable housing initiatives.
