MISSION:

To preserve and strengthen a viable base of nonprofit organizations providing health and human services to Broward County. The nonprofit community in Broward is a powerful economic engine, representing 910 of the 45,000 organizations in Florida, employing approximately 33,000 in the county and generating $2.680 billion in revenue.

ISSUES:

·       Extend Limited Liability to nonprofits with State or Federal contracts.

·       Allow for nonprofits to purchase from State of Florida and Local Government contracts.

·       The State of Florida must at a minimum maintain funding for the delivery of health and human services by nonprofits at current levels.

·       Protect and restore funding including but not limited to: the $15 million of DCF non-recurring funds in the 2011 budget with recurring funds for 2012, provide adequate funding for the Developmental Disabilities Medicaid Waivers and support passage of tax credit legislation for employment of the homeless.

·       The State of Florida should maximize revenues to draw down all available Federal funds; and focus on cost-effective, proven programs.

·       Require State and Local Governmental entities to give preference to nonprofits in purchasing of goods and services in any and all procurement processes.
