Mission:

Our mission is to seek legislative solutions to providing the citizens and businesses of Broward County and Florida with affordable and available insurance protections necessary to maintain their legal and financial obligations. It is our intention to keep our fellow Broward Days committees advised as to legislation that would help encourage the continued job creation and business environment in Florida. Our team is continuing to focus on helping Broward County expand its economic base. Insurance and financial planning is an integral part of every business. Whether providing protection for the largest investment a person has ( i.e. their home ), protection against damage from an accident, protection of assets, retirement and/or pension planning, medical expenses, business continuation, or protection against damage to business assets, insurance provides security for all businesses, families, and our community. Businesses need to have the ability to offer affordable health insurance and retirement benefits to attract and retain the best employees.

Issues:

An undue hardship exists regarding the availability and affordability of Property Insurance for private homes, Condominium Associations and unit owners, as well as owners of commercial structures.

Legislative solutions to encourage companies to continue to sell this valuable coverage, as well as for new companies to come into Florida to offer this type of insurance needs to be instituted. Reviewing the manner in which hurricane deductibles are applied should bring additional options to our citizens.

Affordability must be tackled or we may see a mass exodus of citizens and businesses from our state. Legislators need to make major changes to our Workers Compensation and Medical Malpractice systems so as to bring our coverages and premiums in line with other parts of the country.
