Mission:
It is the mission of the Health Care Team to champion for Broward County's health care concerns. The Health Care Team will be advocating on issues which impact the ability of our local health care delivery system to continue to provide accessible, affordable, quality health care , as well as prevention, health education and treatment services.
A few of the team's priorities are:
- Support full funding of the Low Income Pool funding program and the State Legislature contributing needed General Revenue to maximize the federal matching funds.
- Advocate for fully funding the programs which are targeted for our most vulnerable populations in Broward County.
- Support full funding of nursing loan forgiveness programs as well as the expansion of nurse faculty slots in our universities and community colleges.
- Support full funding for KidCare and streamlining of the program.
- Oppose deregulation of Certificate of Need.
- Oppose further reductions to Medicaid provider payments for Hospitals and Physicians.
- Request that the State maintain its financial commitment to the Medicaid program and lend full support for the Medicaid Pilot program in Broward. We also ask the State to maintain the integrity of the evaluation process for the pilot and future expansions.
- Support the Broward County pilot project on electronic monitoring of prescription drugs.
