Mission:

The purpose of the team is to inform and be informed regarding legislative issues impacting persons in Broward County for whom English is a second language and to coordinate the ESOL community 's efforts for legislative reform.

 
 

Issues:

Support full funding of the Programs designed to improve the employability of the workforce through English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

Request that the State maintain adult education and literacy programs, particularly those that provide instruction and skills that enable adults to become more employable, productive, and responsible citizens.

Request that the State maintain its commitment to the ESOL Endorsement and lend full support for reading teachers to be well prepared to teach ESOL students and to have earned ESOL Endorsement.

Support the Broward County programs which provide outstanding language and cultural enrichment services through a comprehensive program of classroom and individual instruction.

Support the Broward County Community Educational Centers which provide academic, recreational, health, cultural, artistic, social science, and parenting preparation programs.

Advocate for fully funding the Adult and Community Education programs and services which offer basic reading, writing, and math skills necessary to obtain or advance in the workplace and meet entrance requirements for technical training programs.
