Mission:
The purpose of the Court Funding team is to ensure our community's perspective is presented to the Legislature and to reinforce the critical need for sustained and sufficient funding. All segments of our diverse community, from the most disenfranchised to the business community, need to have an efficient, fair and equitable judicial system. The court system is one of three pillars of our democracy.
Issues:
The Court Funding System continues to adapt to the seismic funding shift resulting from the state assuming responsibility for funding for Florida's court system, which was previously funded primarily by Florida's counties. This funding shift was mandated by a 1998 amendment known as Revision 7. Both in Broward County and statewide, the Florida court system continues to seek funding for additional judges, as well as other funding for programs such as the Guardian Ad Litem programs.
