Bulletin  Temporary Broward Days09 Membership Registration Form

Question:
How does Broward Days function in light of the recent Gift-Giving Law (Chapter 2005-359, Laws of Florida)?
Answer:
For the small percentage of Broward Days activity to which the law refers, the Board of Directors has voted to offer three options to those subject to the new law: 1. At any event, pay the established fair-market-value cost for the event per person; or 2. Pay the season's membership fee which entitles the member to every Broward Day event in Fort Lauderdale and Tallahassee; or 3. Pursuant to the language of the Interim Lobbying Guidelines memo for the House and Senate (1/20/06), "pop in" and not partake of any food, beverage, or other personal benefit at the event. From time to time, those subject to the new law may still individually be invited to speak at a function.
